I began my career as a Cobol Programmer in the 1980s. I worked for a bank developing software using the Cobol Language for their inhouse requirements. For a decade I was doing this. There after new developments happened in the software arena and many new packages like C++, dbase, foxpro, etc. were coming up in the market. I slowly learnt them and migrated to dbase and foxpro. These two were very interesting to me as they had the concept of database. They were more suitable for small business. I immersed myself fully in learning and began to develop custom accounting software for small businesses for maintaining their accounts, inventory and staff/salary accounts. At that time there were no off the shelf software packages for these kind of requirements and I had a good business. This did not stay for long. Slowly more programmers came in and the price for writing such software started to fall. Then I switched over to another bank as a data center head for the Backup/Disaster Recovery Site. After working here for a decade, got a job with a brokerage firm for developing software for their inhouse use and it was custom one for their needs. This is how I got introduced to markets and trading.
I started in equities but nothing great happened. As I was not having much capital. Then I begain trading with futures, Here to I would say my performance was mediocre. Then the MCX and commodity trading began operations. The margin was less for their mini lots futures and so I went into commodity trading. Here again it was the same case. Luckily so far I was never wiped out of my entire capital. I believe it was because of my fear of huge losses and due to which I used to always keep tight stop losses. On many occassions I used to get out of the trades pre maturely because of this. Any way that was the way I traded.
Then in 2019 I came across option trading. I found it very interesting. I decided I would not plunge into it without preparing well. So I attended some courses and read as many books as I could. I watched many videos on the youtube related to option trading. That is how I am now still doing option trading and created this blog. I believe this blog where I record my trades and mistakes made by me will help me to become a successful option trader.
